Four kids and four years ago (Four score and seven years ago...) I decided to take cake decorating classes.
The idea tossed and turned and polished in my little head without an initial step taken until one day, poof- my first baby was born. The Ashlynn-ator was followed quickly by dirty diapers, projectile puke, and all night feedings; leaving very little time for quick bathroom runs, basic eating, and regularly showering let alone cake decorating.
No big deal, minor setback in my path to cake decorating perfection, and in my life it was exactly what I wanted to be doing. I'd take my classes when Brian ( my incredible husband) and I got our feet under us and wrapped our brains around life with a baby.
Exactly 13 months and 15 days later our second beautiful baby was born...our Taider-bug! Life with two babies!!! It was crazy! I was exhausted, but about 6 months in I had it down. We spent the summer at water parks, and aquariums, potty training, and learning to crawl...things would settle down in the fall. That October we got a teeny-teeny-tiny BIG surprise...9 months later our 3rd baby was born, Brynie-Boo!! At this point all thoughts of cake decorating classes were gone...long, long gone. Gone with the days of wearing white shirts, having a spotless house, and showering daily. Although I did still DVR and later force my husband to watch every cake decorating show on the planet with me!
Life was slowly getting set in a system...never the adjustment "I got this-ah, thank goodness" moment...but then...
(I know what your thinking, "No way! Not another baby! Don't these people use birth control?!? Answer is yes and yes...)
Baby number 4! It finally occurred to me, about the same time it was occurring to me that we'd never again be adjusted or orderly in our home, that if I didn't do something now- I'd never do it.
So with the support of some pretty amazing friends and my absolutely amazing husband, I signed up for Wilton's Cake Decorating Basics Course 1!! Dum-duh-duh-Dah!!! This is the story of my adventure in learning to decorate and bake cakes...while managing (aka juggling my beautiful 4 year old, 3 year old, 2 year old, 4 month old baby, and husband)...
...wish me luck
Just reading that story makes me feel tired! I can't believe you have 4 kids already! I'm excited to see your cake creations!
